Prayer book in a magnificent silver binding – Livorno, circa 1851 A Yom Kippur cycle according to the custom of the Sephardic Jewish community. Livorno, printed by the esteemed brothers Moshe and Israel Palagi and Shlomo Bilforti, 1851 Stamped and engraved silver; cast and punched silver, stamped, printed and engraved on paper. A rare prayer book, bound in an original leather binding from the printing period and housed in a magnificent silver binding from the 18th century. Both sides of the silver binding are decorated in the same way, in a symmetrical pattern that includes a large, convex oval medallion in the center, surrounded by a rosary-like frame; the surface is smoothly decorated. The spine is decorated with six flowers and the buckles are also decorated with flowers.
