Porcelain Seder Bowl – Illustrations by Eric Tunstall – England, 1930s-1940s A Seder Bowl, made by the Grindley Royal Cauldon porcelain company (model: Sederdish). England, circa 1930s-1940s Colorful printing on porcelain (Bone China). The rim of the bowl is decorated with colorful illustrations depicting the Ten Plagues, alongside excerpts from the Haggadah text in Hebrew and English. In the center of the bowl appear the Seder signs and “We were slaves to Pharaoh in Egypt.” And around six dedicated recesses – with colorful illustrations of the bowl signs The illustrations were designed by the English artist Eric Tunstall (Tunstall, 1897-1987), a portrait painter and illustrator from Stoke-on-Trent, Staffordshire, England, who was engaged in decorative design for the local porcelain and ceramics industry.
