Jewelry box decorated with high-quality Damascus work, 20th century – An elegant and massive jewelry box, a high-quality example and dating from the Jewish-Damascus metal inlay craft. A rectangular and massive box, made of wooden boards covered with thick sheets of brass inlaid with silver and copper; with a heavy, angular lid fixed on a hinge. Rich in decorations, in different techniques and in different designs: the brass parts not inlaid with silver or copper are decorated with dense plant designs in chisel work; in the center of the lid a pair of fish around arch decorations on columns, inside each arch hanging from a menorah, bearing the inscription ”Bezalel Jerusalem”. Height: 13 cm, length: 13 cm, width: 18.5 cm. Good overall condition.
