Silver Soul Candle. Weight: 350 grams. Elegant Silver Soul Candle for the Synagogue – ”Kas D'Sail” – Morocco, 1947 Soul Candle for a Synagogue (Kas D'Sail). [Morocco], 1947 (1947). Cast silver, sawn, soldered, engraved, hardened and nailed; A soul candle hanging for the synagogue, made as a silver hoop with an inscription in memory of the deceased, hanging from the top of a stepped kippah using stylish chain-links. Two dedication inscriptions adorn the body of the candle, one made of large, sawn letters and the other engraved in large script: ”For the repose of Levi Tubul, the second day of the month of Tevet 6” This type of candle, in which a glass cup for oil was placed, was donated to synagogues for the repose of the souls of men, at the end of the year of the deceased's death, and until then they were hung in their homes and lit on Shabbats and holidays. Diameter 18.5 cm. Good condition. Non-original glass. Weight: 350 g.
