On the left, the artist's signature in Hebrew and English Condition: Very good, diameter: 19 cm Reuven Rubin, born in Romania, 1893, arrived in Israel in 1912 to study at Bezalel. He stayed in Israel and returned to Paris. During World War I, he stayed in Romania and returned to Israel in 1922. His early paintings reflect the feelings of renewed Jewish life in Palestine. Maor Yaher began to paint landscapes of the country, and sometimes he painted stories from the Bible. To mark his 100th birthday, the exhibition ”Reuven - Self-Portrait” opened in November 1993 at the Reuven House. The exhibition is divided into three themes: ”Self-Portrait by an Olive Tree”, ”The Prophet Elijah Ascends in a Storm to Heaven” and ”Dove in the Belly of a Fish”.
