”From the Valley of Hebron” - a rare proclamation from the Chabad Yeshiva and Talmud Torah ”Magen Avot” in Hebron - 1915 - signed by Ben Zion A. Cuenca, Chief Rabbi of the Sephardic community, Rabbi Yosef Hasson, Rabbi Nissim Chaim Castillo, and Rabbi Chaim Bajayo. ”From the Valley of Hebron”, a large proclamation from the ”Chief Rabbinate” and including Sephardim [Hebron, 1914]. The proclamation was apparently printed in close proximity to the founding of the ”Magen Avot” Yeshiva and Talmud Torah in Hebron, in 1934, and contains a call to our brothers in the Diaspora to support and donate to the institution. The proclamation is signed by three of the leaders of the Chabad Hasidim community and the Sephardic community in Hebron. In its lower part there are two official seals: ”Seal of the Magen Avot Yeshiva and the Torah Talmud Schools for the Ashkenazim Community in the Hebron” (in Hebrew, German and French). At the top of the proclamation appears an illustration of the structure of the Cave of the Patriarchs, surrounded by the verse: ”And I will remember my covenant with Jacob, and also my covenant with Isaac, and also my covenant with Abraham, and the land will be remembered, ” and under the heading ”And the land will be remembered.” For more information on the ”Magen Avot” institution in Hebron, see the book ”History of Chabad in the Holy Land, ” edited by Rabbi Shalom Dober Levin (Brooklyn, 1988), chapter 25; Book ”Three Worlds”, by Chaim Hamburger, Part Two (Jerusalem, 1956), Chapter 14.
