Bidspirit auction | An antique European-style cast metal

An antique European-style cast metal (brass or bronze) hanging chandelier menorah, traditionally used as a synagogue menorah or a Sabbath menorah (also called a ”Judenstern”). At the top and bottom of the menorah body, you can see figures of birds with spread wings (a very common motif in Jewish art and in Sabbath menorahs from Europe, mainly from Germany, Poland and the Netherlands). The perforated rings in the center of the chandelier were originally intended to serve as reflectors to enhance the light of the candle or oil flames. The menorah has eight canes shaped like wicks, each with a saucer and a candle holder at the end.
