Persian copper bowl from the Qajar period, 19th century. The center of the bowl features a dense decoration combining birds and flowers (especially roses and lilies). This realistic, floral style became most associated with the art of the Qajar dynasty. Around the center is a band of inscription in flowing Persian Nastaliq script, which characterizes vessels made for the middle and upper classes in 19th century Iran, in contrast to the more geometric or monumental calligraphy of the Safavid period.
