Item Overview
Description:
A Chinese Famille Rose 'Infant Play' Stem Cup, Qianlong Mark
A Chinese *famille rose* 'infant play' stem cup, bearing a four-character blue underglaze '乾隆年製' (Qianlong Nian Zhi) mark to the interior base of the stem. The exterior of the bowl is finely decorated with a continuous scene of children at play in a landscape. This scene is interspersed with large panels of black-ink calligraphy, framed by vibrant geometric borders in yellow, purple, and teal. The calligraphy, consistent with imperial verses (*yuti*), contains phrases such as "開祥毓瑞" (Bringing auspiciousness and nurturing blessings), "欽命雅製" (Imperially commissioned elegant ware), and notably, references to "嘉慶天子" (Jiaqing Emperor), "乾隆年製" (Made in the Qianlong Reign), and "嘉慶年製" (Made in the Jiaqing Reign), alongside "萬曆風雅" (Wanli elegance). The tall, cylindrical stem features vertical green and blue feather-like motifs against a purple ground.
H: Approximately 9.5cm
D: Approximately 15cm
The piece appears to be in overall good condition with rich colors and no immediately visible significant damage.
