Item Overview

Description:

A Chinese Gilt Bronze Luduan Censer, Possibly Qianlong Period
A Chinese parcel-gilt bronze censer, cast in the form of a crouching luduan, possibly Qianlong period. The mythical beast features a powerful head with prominent eyes and an open snout, with its removable head serving as the lid. Its body is segmented, resembling scales or armor, and it is adorned with a stylized flame-like tail. The surface exhibits a rich, dark patina with discernible traces of original gilding and reddish pigment, particularly on the raised decorative elements such as scrolling clouds and scales.

H: Approximately 19.5cm

Aged condition, showing wear consistent with an antique metallic object. Rich, dark patina throughout. Discernible traces of original gilding and reddish pigment remain, particularly on raised decorative elements. Minor surface abrasions and losses to gilding commensurate with age and handling. No visible text or specific marks are present. No apparent repairs or major damage.
