Item Overview
Description:
A Chinese Bronze Cicada Scroll Weight, Signed 'Bun-sai' (文斎)
A Chinese bronze cicada scroll weight. This sculptural bronze object features a realistically rendered cicada resting on a curved, ridged base, possibly representing a roof tile. The underside is hollowed and decorated in relief with a snail and a scorpion, divided by a central partition. A two-character mark, transliterated as 'Bun-sai' or 'Mon-sai' (文斎) and likely an artist's signature, is visible within a square cartouche on this central divider.
L: Approximately 6.5cm
Good overall condition, consistent with its material and form. Exhibits varied, rich coppery-brown patination with subtle green highlights. No significant damage, repairs, or restoration noted.
