A Chinese Celadon-Glazed Carved Porcelain Dragon and Phoenix Moon Flask, Qianlong Mark. - A Chinese celadon-glazed carved porcelain moon flask, bearing a six-character seal script reign mark of Qianlong. The flattened circular body rises to a waisted neck with a flared rim, flanked by two stylized *ruyi*-form handles connecting the neck to the shoulders. It is covered in an even, pale grey-green celadon glaze. One side is relief-decorated with a five-clawed dragon amidst clouds and flames, while the other side depicts a phoenix (fenghuang) amidst clouds, both within a roundel on a background of incised wave or scale patterns. The base bears the mark 大清乾隆年製 (Dà Qīng Qiánlóng Nián Zhì), 'Made in the Great Qing Dynasty, Qianlong Period.' H: Approximately 27cm Provenance: Private collection based in West London.
