A Chinese Blue and White Porcelain Stem Bowl with Tibetan Inscription, Xuande Mark. - A Chinese blue and white porcelain stem bowl, identified by an underglaze blue six-character mark on the interior base, which reads ”大明宣德年製” (Dà Míng Xuāndé Nián Zhì), indicating it was ”Made in the Xuande reign of the Great Ming Dynasty.” The exterior of the bowl is decorated with a continuous band of Tibetan script, which translates to ”Om mani padme hum, ” positioned above a dense, stylized pattern of scrolling motifs in underglaze blue. This decorative band extends down onto the stem, which also features a scrolled border near its foot. The underside of the bowl is richly adorned with concentric patterns of radiating blue forms. The interior is largely plain, featuring a double blue line just below the rim and the aforementioned central reign mark. H: Approximately 11.3cm Provenance: Private collection based in West London.
