A Chinese Blue and White Porcelain Stem Cup, Xuande Mark. - A Chinese blue and white porcelain stem cup, featuring a flared bowl resting on a tall, hollow stem with a spreading foot. The exterior of the bowl and stem are decorated with intricate cobalt blue underglaze designs, including scrolling tendrils, stylized floral motifs, and mythical creatures, possibly dragons or phoenixes, amidst clouds. The rim of the bowl and the foot are accentuated with thin blue bands. The interior of the bowl is plain white with two concentric blue lines below the rim, and features a circular arrangement of Tibetan script in blue underglaze in the center. The underside of the foot bears a six-character blue underglaze mark, 'Da Ming Xuande Nian Zhi' (大明宣德年製), which translates to ”Made in the Xuande reign of the Great Ming dynasty.” H: Approximately 8cm Provenance: Private collection based in West London.
