A Chinese Blue and White 'Phoenix' Bowl, Jiajing Mark. - A Chinese blue and white porcelain bowl, decorated with phoenixes, bearing an underglaze blue Jiajing six-character mark. Of conical form, the exterior is adorned with a dynamic design of stylized phoenixes amidst scrolling cloud or tendril motifs, above a lotus petal band encircling the lower body. The interior base features a central floral medallion enclosed within double blue lines. The unglazed footrim reveals a light brown bisque. The glazed base bears a vertically written six-character underglaze blue mark which translates to 'Made in the Great Ming Jiajing Reign' (Dà Míng Jiājìng Nián Zhì).
