A Chinese Famille Verte 'Three Scholars' Porcelain Bowl, Kangxi Mark. - A deep, footed porcelain bowl with a flared rim, decorated in polychrome enamels over underglaze blue. The exterior body depicts a continuous scene of several figures, likely scholars or sages, engaged in activities such as playing a board game and a stringed instrument, set within a landscape of pine trees and rockwork, rendered in green, red, yellow, and black enamels with blue outlines. The interior rim is adorned with a band of geometric and stylized symbolic motifs in red, blue, and green. The interior base presents a central medallion with a single figure seated on a gnarled branch. The recessed foot bears a six-character underglaze blue mark within a double circle, reading ”大清康熙年製” (Dà Qīng Kāngxī Nián Zhì), translating to ”Made in the Kangxi reign of the Great Qing Dynasty.” D: Approximately 20.7cm Provenance: Private collection based in West London.
