A Chinese Gilt Bronze Shakyamuni Buddha Statue. - A Chinese Gilt Bronze Shakyamuni Buddha Statue, depicting the Buddha seated in the lotus position (Padmasana). The figure's hands are in the Dhyana Mudra, holding a small, spherical object, likely an alms bowl. Distinctive features include a prominent ushnisha on the head and an urna on the forehead. The figure wears monastic robes with incised folds draped over the left shoulder, leaving the right arm largely uncovered. The statue rests upon a double-lotus pedestal base. The material is a dark, patinated bronze or copper alloy, exhibiting significant surface wear, oxidation, and remnants of red pigment, particularly visible on the face, chest, and back, alongside faint traces of gilding.
