The surface is decorated with fine damascened ornament, featuring scrolling vegetal motifs and dense foliate patterns in contrasting metal set against the darker steel ground. Each lobe is individually articulated with its own decorative panel, while the central field is filled with interlacing scrollwork that radiates outward in a balanced composition.
