An Islamic Brass Astrolabe, Possibly 19th Century. - The astrolabe of circular form, comprising multiple engraved brass plates and a rotating pierced rete centred by a raised pivot. The surface finely incised with dense astronomical grids, concentric scales, and coordinate markings, arranged around a central axis. The openwork rete is cut with stylised stellar pointers radiating across the engraved ground, allowing the underlying plates to be read through the design. The reverse and interior plates display further engraved diagrams and calibrated lines, with additional inscriptions and geometric divisions. The upper section terminates in a decorative suspension element, engraved with floral motifs and fitted with a hanging loop. H: Approximately 16.7cm
