An Indo-Persian Engraved Steel Axe Head (Tabar), 19th Century. - Of broad, curved axe form, the head is forged in iron and extensively engraved across all visible surfaces. One face is decorated with a dense composition of scrolling foliage interspersed with stylised birds, framed within a continuous ornamental border that follows the outline of the blade. The opposite face mirrors the richness of the decoration, with tightly packed floral scrolls filling the field. The socket is rectangular in section and deeply engraved with repeating floral motifs arranged in vertical panels, separated by raised bands. A circular perforation pierces the side of the socket, its interior showing a contrasting surface to the engraved exterior. The spine and edges are similarly worked with fine linear ornament
