A Safavid Tinned Copper Bowl with Calligraphy and Dense Arabesque Decoration, 17th Century. - Of rounded, bulbous form with a gently everted rim, this Safavid-period bowl is crafted from copper and finished with a tinned interior. The exterior is richly engraved with a wide horizontal band of flowing Arabic calligraphy encircling the upper body, the script rendered in an elegant, continuous register framed by narrow foliate borders. Below the inscription, the surface is densely filled with scrolling arabesque decoration composed of intertwining vegetal motifs and stylised blossoms, arranged in a tightly packed, repeating pattern that covers the entire lower body.
