A Qajar Portrait of Muzaffar al-Din Shah Qajar, 19th Century or Later. - A formal bust-length portrait of Muzaffar al-Din Shah Qajar (r. 1896-1907) depicted in full military regalia. The Shah is shown with a prominent swept moustache, wearing a tall green kula adorned with a white aigrette and a central jewelled brooch. His dark uniform is intricately detailed with elaborate gold braiding, multiple rows of square-cut medals, and jewelled epaulettes. The portrait is set within a dark oval field against a muted olive-gold rectangular background, characteristic of Persian courtly portraiture of the late Qajar period. Oil on canvas.
