A Qajar Portrait of Fath 'Ali Shah Qajar, 19th Century. - A formal, full-length portrait of Fath 'Ali Shah Qajar (r. 1797–1834) depicted in full regal splendour. The Shah is shown with his characteristic long, black beard, wearing the Kayanid crown adorned with pearls, emeralds, and feathers. He is dressed in deep blue robes heavily embellished with jewellery and bazubands, holding an ornate, gem-set scimitar across his lap. The composition includes traditional courtly elements: the subject is seated upon a pearl-encrusted carpet, flanked by a decorative qalyan (hookah) and a vibrant floral arrangement in a matching jewelled vase. The scene is set against a backdrop of draped charcoal-grey curtains and a neutral wall. Oil on canvas. Approximately 79 x 59.2cm (painting size)
