The composition depicts the Masjid al-Haram in Mecca with the Kaaba at its centre. The central diagram is surrounded by detailed labels in Arabic identifying various gates, minarets, and sacred sites within the complex, such as the Station of Abraham (Maqam Ibrahim). The entire work is framed by a calligraphic border featuring the opening verses of Surah Al-Baqarah from the Quran, beginning with the Basmala and the letters Alif, Lam, Meem.
