A Complete Stone Half Chess Set, 19th Century. A complete carved stone half chess set comprising sixteen pieces, including a pair of rooks of arched form with incised geometric ornament, two knights modelled as stylised horses with elongated necks and drilled detailing, and royal pieces of domed and rectangular profile decorated with circular and linear motifs. The pawns are of bulbous form, each pierced and carved with repeating scroll and dot designs. H: Approximately 3.5-6.1cm Provenance: From a distinguished European private collection.
