A Ceramic Chess Piece Depicting a Seated King, 19th Century. A ceramic chess piece modelled as a seated king, shown wearing a crown with circular apertures and long draped robes. The figure holds a sceptre against the chest with one hand resting on the knee, the facial features and folds of the garment rendered in raised linear detail. The surface is coated in a red slip with areas of lighter wear along the edges and back panel, which is decorated with a stylised scrollwork motif.
