A CHINESE ISLAMIC BLUE AND WHITE PORCELAIN CALLIGRAPHY CUP, LATE QING DYNASTY TO REPUBLIC PERIOD. - A Chinese blue and white porcelain cup, likely intended for tea or wine, produced in the classical Zhengde style. The exterior is decorated in underglaze blue with a band of Arabic calligraphy in a fluid Naskh script, transcribing a verse from the Quran, Surah An-Nas (114:6): Min al-jinnati wa al-nas ([From] among the jinn and mankind). The inscription is framed by double concentric blue lines at the flared rim and the base. The interior is undecorated, showcasing the fine white porcelain body and clear, glossy glaze.
