AN ISLAMIC SILVER AND ENGRAVED CARNELIAN AGATE SIGNET RING. - A signet-style ring featuring a large, oval carnelian agate plaque, commonly referred to as aqeeq, set into a silver mount. The stone is deeply carved in intaglio with Arabic calligraphy in a cursive script, likely Nasta'liq, divided by a central horizontal line and accented with decorative flourishes and dot clusters. The calligraphy is characteristic of religious inscriptions found in Persian and Ottoman traditions. The stone is held in a rub-over bezel with a beaded millegrain border. The heavy shank and shoulders are decorated with deep geometric chasing, featuring stylized foliage and interlocking lozenge patterns.
