AN ISLAMIC SILVER AND RED AQEEQ INTAGLIO SEAL RING. - An Islamic seal ring featuring an oval carnelian stone, commonly referred to as aqeeq. The dark reddish-brown stone is bezel-set and functions as an intaglio, incised with four horizontal lines of Arabic script. The setting is bordered by a decorative rope-twist pattern. The wide shoulders and sides of the shank are decorated with relief-cast scrollwork and foliate motifs.
