A PERSIAN QAJAR SILVER TALISMANIC PLAQUE WITH LION AND SUN MOTIF. - A circular talismanic plaque of slightly convex form, likely originating from 19th or early 20th century Iran during the Qajar period. The piece is constructed from silver. The obverse is intricately engraved with a central sun-faced lion, featuring a human face framed by a radiating mane. The figure and the surrounding field are covered in Arabic and Persian calligraphy in naskh script, including the religious formula La ilaha. The design incorporates two magic squares containing Arabic-Indic numerals, with a smaller four-cell grid on the chest and a larger sixteen-cell grid on the flank.
