AN OTTOMAN MOTHER-OF-PEARL CALLIGRAPHIC AMULET PENDANT. - An engraved mother-of-pearl pendant of scalloped, ten-pointed form. The obverse features a central lobed cartouche containing the Arabic inscription Allah in calligraphic script, surmounted by a stylised honourific. The central motif is bordered by a band of engraved scrolling foliate arabesques. The incised decoration is highlighted with a dark pigment to provide contrast against the iridescent nacre shell. The piece is pierced at the upper edge and fitted with a base metal wire suspension loop. D: Approximately 6.5cm
