UBAYDALLAH IBN ZIYAD ARAB-SASSANIAN SILVER DIRHAM, CIRCA 53–56 AH (673–676 AD). - An early Arab-Sassanian silver dirham struck under the authority of Ubaydallah ibn Ziyad, dating to 53–56 Hijri. The obverse presents a crowned Sassanian-style bust facing right, enclosed within a beaded circular border, with fine detailing to the facial features, headdress, and surrounding marginal inscriptions in Pahlavi script. The reverse depicts a central fire altar flanked by two standing attendants, framed within concentric borders. Additional marginal inscriptions and symbols are visible, reflecting the transitional phase between Sassanian and early Islamic coinage traditions. 4g
