UBAYDALLAH IBN ZIYAD ARAB-SASSANIAN SILVER DIRHAM, CIRCA 53–56 AH (673–676 AD). - A silver dirham of the Arab-Sassanian series issued under Ubaydallah ibn Ziyad, dating to 53–56 Hijri. The obverse displays a crowned Sassanian-style bust facing right, enclosed within a beaded border, with well-defined facial features, headdress, and surrounding marginal inscriptions in Pahlavi script. The reverse features a central fire altar flanked by two attendants, enclosed within concentric circular borders. Additional marginal inscriptions and symbols are present, illustrating the continuation of Sassanian iconography during the early Islamic period. 3.56g
