AN EGYPTIAN CARVED RED JASPER (BRECCIATED STONE) STONE LUG-HANDLED JAR, NEW KINGDOM–THIRD INTERMEDIATE PERIOD, CIRCA 1550–664 BC. - A carved stone vessel fashioned from brecciated jasper or a similar variegated ornamental stone, exhibiting a mottled palette of deep reddish-brown and ochre. The jar is designed with a squat, bulbous body and features two small pierced horizontal lug handles positioned at the shoulders. It is finished with a broad, flat everted rim. The form is characteristic of stone vessels from the Ancient Egyptian Predynastic or Early Dynastic periods. The interior and exterior surfaces are polished, highlighting the natural patterns of the stone.
