PERSIAN SCHOOL, EARLY 20TH CENTURY 'AN EROTIC SCENE' (SIGNED). - An erotic miniature painting executed in gouache with gold highlights on paper. The composition depicts a couple in an intimate embrace upon a patterned floral carpet, set within an architectural interior featuring red drapery and columns. The scene overlooks a landscape of trees and hills under a stylised sky. The artwork is framed by multiple thin, coloured rules and is mounted onto a wide, deep purple paper border. The verso of the mount features a single horizontal line of calligraphy in Persian script, accompanied by the numerical date 1332, which corresponds to the Islamic calendar year approximately 1913 to 1914 AD.
