PERSIAN SCHOOL, 19TH/20TH CENTURY, 'ILLUMINATED MANUSCRIPT LEAF WITH SALAWAT'. - This illuminated manuscript leaf or miniature painting is executed in gouache and gold on paper, featuring intricate floral and scrolling foliate patterns in the Persian style. The composition is centred around a multi-tiered arch filled with a dense array of pink, blue, and yellow flowers against a gold and blue ground. At the bottom, a calligraphic cartouche contains Arabic script in black ink, which reads as a Salawat prayer.  Approximately 32 x 28.2cm
