INDIAN KASHMIR SCHOOL, 19TH CENTURY, 'AN ILLUMINATED QURANIC BIFOLIUM'. - This illuminated Islamic bifolium, likely representing a double-page opening from a Quran, is executed in ink, gold, and opaque watercolour on paper. The layout features two central panels of dense Arabic calligraphy in black ink, each contained within nested rectangular and arched gold frames. These central panels are surrounded by wide decorative borders featuring intricate floral and foliate patterns in a palette of lapis blue, gold, and red.
