ISLAMIC SCHOOL, 20TH CENTURY, 'CALLIGRAPHIC PANEL OF THE AHL AL-BAYT'. - An illuminated calligraphic panel executed in ink, polychrome pigments, and gold on paper. The composition features a central polylobed medallion containing the name Muhammad surmounted by the word Allah in Thuluth script. Four smaller lobed cartouches at the corners contain the names of the members of the Ahl al-Bayt: Ali at the top right, Fatima at the top left, Hasan at the bottom right, and Husayn at the bottom left. The surrounding illumination consists of intricate floral arabesque (islimi) patterns in a palette of red, blue, and gold. Approximately 39 x 31.2cm
