MOHAMMAD FOROUHAR (IRANIAN, 19TH CENTURY), A CALLIGRAPHIC DRAWING OF A KASHKUL (BEGGAR'S BOWL), DATED 1301 AH (1883-1884 AD) - This detailed pen and ink drawing on toned paper depicts a traditional dervish’s kashkul (beggar's bowl), a form typically carved from a coco de mer shell. The subject is centrally composed, suspended by a rendered chain, with the body of the bowl and its lid intricately decorated with scrolling foliate motifs and tiers of Arabic calligraphy. An inscription at the lower centre translates as Painting of Safi Shah's Kashkul. To the lower right, a square calligraphic seal contains the characters for Eshgh Mohammad Malik and the date 1301 AH, which corresponds to 1883-1884 AD. A further line of cursive script below the seal identifies the work as Mashq Mohammad Forouhar (Exercise by Mohammad Forouhar). The drawing is presented in a wide off-white mount within a dark wood frame. Approximately 48 x 39cm
