Franconian gold-plated Spatha about 500 A.D.
Fränkische Goldgriffspatha um 500, Sonderform der Spatha (Hiebschwert), zweischneidige, bikonvexe Klinge, L. 68,2 cm, ges. L. 82 cm, Br. 42 mm im Wurzelbereich, gerundete, geschärfte Spitze, durchgehend narbig, partiell gut erhaltene Oberflächenbereiche, alle Griffteile Bronze, Griff aus 4 gerundeten Stangen m. Goldblech überzogen, 3 Griffzwingen, kurzes, kantiges Parierstück, 4seitig m. Aussparungen u. Goldblech überzogen, leicht ovaler Knauf m. Aussparung u. Goldblech überzogen, beidseitig je 2 rote Steine in Fassungen später ergänzt, am Knaufansatz zum Griff noch eingepreßter, gedrehter Golddraht sichtbar, kleine halbkugelförmige, eiserne Vernietung m. Rostnarben, gut erhaltenes seltenes Stück aus ehemals Süddeutscher Auktion der 70er Jahre
