A rare roman red jasper intaglio. Murex shell.
1st - 2nd century A.D.
11 x 15 x 4 mm
The shell is finely engraved on the vertical sense of the stone with very naturalistic details. Including, little globular asperities and the sharp spines. The subject is deeply engraved and mirror polished with great expertise. Attractive color of the stone. slight wear marks. Rare specimen.
