A silver mounted Haliotis shell, 20th century - Height x width x depth: 34 x 16 x 10 cm. Total weight: 340 g. solid silver base with round shape decorated with festoons and seraph heads, shaft depicting a winged putto resting on three seraph heads, caught holding a shell (Haliotis). Haliotis Ruber is a marine gastropod mollusc belonging to the Haliotidae family. Specimens of this species are commonly called aliotidae, sea ears or abalones.  They are molluscs with a rigid shell, which is oval in shape with a beautifully coloured surface, with some holes depending on the age of the mollusc. The interior is pearly. Hallmarked under the base with unidentified marks.
