Sienese mirror, 18th century, 18th century - Height x width x depth: 166 x 74 x 8 cm.cm. Elegant mirror in finely carved and gilded wood, of Sienese manufacture, 18th century. The piece is distinguished by a refined decorative scheme in the Neoclassical taste. The crest features an oval medallion carved with a classical female figure, flanked by two confronted swans supporting a large central ribbon — an ornamental motif recurrent in late Baroque and Rococo Tuscan furnishings. The frame, defined by a braided pattern, is enriched with foliate details and angular scrolls that elegantly transition into the shaped feet. The original gilding, warm and luminous, retains a pleasing patina that enhances the craftsmanship and sophistication of the carving.
