Walking stick with sea ivory handle, Southern Italy, 19th century - Height x width x depth: 91 x 3.3 x 9.5 cm carved in the shape of a duck's head. The surface of the handle is decorated with a criss-cross pattern reminiscent of the animal's feathers. The eye of the duck's head is an element made of red Mediterranean coral. Under the handle is a metal element engraved with the inscription: ‘Bruno Orioli Baron degli Amato di Amantea’. This detail indicates that the stick probably belonged to a figure of nobility or otherwise of high rank.  This lot, accompanied by an expertise issued by Ce.S.Ar Centro studi archeometici, is only available for sale with shipments within the European Union.
