Philip Galle (1537 - 1612) - Engraving, diam. approx. 230 mm. The New Hollstein (Maarten van Heemskerck) 450. Fine impression, printed with perfectly balanced inking and strong contrast, on thin laid paper bearing a “Gothic P” watermark. Sheet complete with platemark and with a very small margin of about 1 mm. In very good overall condition. On the verso, stamp of the Kupferstichkabinett, Staatliche Museen zu Berlin (Lugt 1606) and another stamp found on drawings and prints deaccessioned from the collection (Lugt 5999, dated [19]21).
