The painting derives from the figure of Eve in Francesco Furini’s work depicting the Progenitors in the Earthly Paradise, in the Galleria Palatina in Florence (see G. Cantelli, Francesco Furini e i furiniani, Pontedera 2010, pp. 106–107, figs. 22–22c).
