Laocoon. From the archaeological model. 19th century. Biscuit. - 23 x 18 x 9 cm This subject depicts the priest Laocoon crushed with his two sons by serpents. The archaeological sculpture that inspired it is currently preserved in the Pio Clementino Museum, Vatican Museums. Very famous sculpture, replicated in both bronze and bisque. Ours has no trademarks and probably dates back to the 19th century, and recalls how much biscuits were loved in the neoclassical and Grand Tour eras, which, with their sugary whiteness, married perfectly with the love of ancient statuary.
