Item Overview
Description:
Die-Struck in: Sterling Silver .925
Size: 1.25" Diameter
Designer/Hallmard: TN-49, Taxco silversmith, Mr. N, 49th N Surnamed Silversmith in Taxco, Mexico.
This is a vintage Taxco (TN-49) sterling silver (.925) semi-hollow pendant, circa early 1980's. The pendant is approximately 1.25" in diameter, excluding the bail. The die-struck sand dollar design is prominently displayed on the semi-dome of sterling silver with a hand-applied 'bric-a-brac' border. Paying attention to the details, the artisan placed "dimples" in the appropriate places to represent the five lunules found on the Five Slotted Sand Dollar. The pendant has a smooth backplate that is so well joined with the front, it is difficult to see that it is 2 pieces of sterling silver. The pendant has a large bail that can accommodate an approximate 5.5mm wide chain. The hallmark for this pendant is located inside the bail. PLEASE NOTE: The sand dollar pendant is not perfectly round, but nor is it "banged up" and dented as it may appear in some photos. There are five dimples on the face of the pendant that were intentionally made by the craftsman. The reflective shine of the polished silver creates the illusion of "pings" and colors from items nearby when the photos were taken. ForOfficeUse: 33120/11bn
