MASK - Anthropomorphic wooden mask with applications, oval in shape and with soft volumes, featuring asymmetrical eyes — one perforated, the other half-closed — and an incised mouth. The surface reveals prominent patina, erosions, and old holes, retaining traces of polychromy in ochres, pinks, and blues; subtle applications punctuate the crest and outline. The asymmetry and partial degradation of the face confer a strong expressive presence, possibly referring to Central African mask traditions. Presented on a display base.
