ANTHROPOMORPHIC FIGURE - Anthropomorphic figure in terracotta, with a globular body and a tall, conical head, with an upper opening. The face features stylized features, half-closed eyes and small incisions on the cheeks; a frieze of triangles on the ”collar” and a zigzag pattern on the belly, on a darkened and smoothed surface, with marks of use. The combination of the elongated head and the incised geometric motifs may refer to the sculptural tradition of the Mangbetu in Central Africa, a hypothesis that cannot be confirmed by photographs alone.
